Lamar Single Release Show w/ Akie Bermiss + Molly Dean at Icehouse

Lamar is the latest project led by Minneapolis based singer, songwriter, saxophonist and composer Geoffrey Lamar Wilson. Former frontman of Brooklyn based Jus Post Bellum, also known for his multilayered looped saxophone performances and catchy podcast ditties. This latest project blends his idiomatic inspirations bridging Folk, Soul, R&B and Country, into a collection of songs with a constant ear towards issues of racial and social justice, and the shared human experience. He's joined by drummer James Taylor, Guitarist Steve Bosmans, and Bassist Jason Wells as well as a rotating cast of collaborators and special guests.

Akie Bermiss with his affable disposition, glasses, and healthy “do” of cascading dreads that drape down to his shoulders, is unabashedly a self-professed nerd to the nth degree. Since early childhood Akie has been an obsessed science fiction aficionado. Yet he does have an artist-friendly façade and has managed to cultivate and live a double-life as a thriving musician, pianist, singer/songwriter, composer, arranger and emerging solo artist.

Molly Dean is involved in a multitude of creative projects as a vocalist, instrumentalist & composer. Her music has been described as "deceptively simple" and her presence "enrapturing - a songstress that eschews archetypal female folkisms with subtle rebellion."

With performances at the Guthrie Theater, to singing duets with Garrison Keillor on A Prairie Home Companion, to opening for Atmosphere & Trampled by Turtles at Bayfront Festival Park, to being featured on the cover of Vita.MN magazine- representing one of the top 4 bands in the Twin Cities, you will find that Molly Dean truly does revel in the creative diversity of it all.
