Haters Club, The Heavy Sixers, & Whiskey Rock and Roll Club at Palmer’s

This is the Haters Club and The Heavy Sixers double release show! Plus can't miss the action with those Whiskey Rock and Rollers opening!

Haters Club released their first single "Day After Halloween" in 2011, followed by The Golden Age of Haters Club EP in 2012. After playing a handful of shows, including opening for Caveman (NYC), and getting some local radio attention, they went on hiatus. After spending much of the last 10 years playing in different projects (Wizards Are Real, Bourbon County, Street Hassle), D.J. Kukielka and Ted Held bring the band back with new members, the same genre-defying songwriting, and songs from their new EP: RIYH. Don't let the name fool you, this band revels in sweet harmonies and clever guitar playing, and connects with audiences wherever they play.

Over the last few years, Steve Dupuis (guitar in The Rakes, The Blue Mollies, Trompe Le Monde, etc...) found himself writing a bunch of songs inspired in equal parts by the insane political environment, personal stories and just plain rock & roll, Steve approached Mark Devaraj (High On Stress, WRRC Mpls, etc...) to play drums, Emily Dupuis (The Blue Mollies, The Bottlehouse) to play keys and sing back up, Jon Sawyer (The Rakes, Rob Stealcheat, etc...) for bass and Grant Eull (Detroit, Manplanet, REVO, etc...) to round up the lineup on guitar. The Heavy Sixers' influences can be heard in varying degrees from some classic rock & roll sounds to the college rock of the 80s and 90s. Audiences love the varied mix of song styles in a live set and Steve's prolific ongoing exploration of new material.

WRRC~Loud sounds from the MPLS rock ‘n’ roll underground! Although only a three piece, fuzzed-out rock outfit Whiskey Rock ‘n’ Roll Club MPLS makes a bigger and badder sound—boogie with a bit of bite!—than groups one-and-a-half their size. The same over-performance also holds for Whiskey’s live show bar tabs, making the “Club meeting” live shows a favorite for fans of loud and fast music and bartenders alike. Whiskey Rock ‘n’ Roll Club MPLS is Taylor Carik (vox, guitar), Mark Devaraj (drums, also of Tromp le Monde, High on Stress, Heavy Sixers), and Andy Holmaas (bass, also plays with David Allen and others).Whiskey RRC MPLS have opened for national acts at The Turf Club and 7th St Entry, played the Roots, Rock & Deep Blues Festival, the Stone Arch Festival, SoundUnseen Opening Party, 612 Brewing Outdoor Summer Music Series, Hennepin 5 to 10 Series, and more. Their first single Let It Ride has been played on The Current's Local Show, and other tracks have been playing on KFAI’s Spin with Cyn.
